First Kohima ‘monthly night carnival’ from today

Kohima, Feb. 21 (EMN): For the first time, the state capital will experience a ‘monthly night carnival’—organised by the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) — that will commence from tonight (February 22) and end on the 27th.
This new initiative aims at creating a platform for local entrepreneurs and start-ups, to boost their sales and meet potential customers, as many of them do not have access to market due to various reasons such as capital investment, affordable places and limited resources. Besides the economic potential, it could also promote local and traditional handicrafts, food and cuisines, as well as the local artists.
Speaking to reporters, the women coordinator of KCCI, Kevibeinuo Mere said that the carnival venue would stretch from Y-junction (Classic Club gate) till Kohima DC Office; with about 100 vendors and stalls. It will run from 4 pm till 9 pm.
She added that the carnival would coincide with the Angami Sekrenyi Mini-Hornbill Festival; and that it would provide nightlife experience to families, and youth.
Mere also informed that local vendors who wish to set up stalls could do so by paying a nominal fee of INR 200 per night.
