Dimapur, Sep. 1 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) has appealed to all the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) to come to a consensus with regards to the Naga political issue ‘for the benefit of the people.’

According to an ENPO statement on Saturday, during the ‘third Naga tribes coordination meeting’ organised by the ENPO, its president Kekongchim had stated that “the expectation of the Naga people for a solution is enduring peace in the entire Naga areas.”

He however, added that this would be possible only when the NPGs unite and put forward a “common agenda” for a “peaceful and lasting solution”, it informed.

The meeting, held at Hotel Acacia in Dimapur on August 31, was attended by the Ao Senden, Sumi Hoho, Lotha Hoho, Rengma Hoho, Pochury Hoho, Zeliang People’s Organisation, Central Nagaland Tribes Council and ENPO along with its six federating tribe bodies.

During the meeting, the organisations “unanimously resolved to stand united in support to the political talks between government of India and different Naga Political Groups for an early solution to the protracted Naga political issue,” the statement read.

They also resolved to meet with the NSCN (IM) and Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) as a “gesture of solidarity”, to discuss the decisions taken during the meeting, and said that they would also write an ‘appeal letter’ if required.

“It is to be stated that the ENPO initiated the peace mission starting from April 23, 2019, meeting all Naga tribes including Nagas of Arunachal, Assam and Manipur and held three joint coordination meetings of all Naga tribes, where all concerned people were desirous of having a peaceful and long lasting solution to the Naga political issue at the earliest,” the statement read.
