Dimapur, Feb. 20 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has objected to the education authorities reportedly appointing a teacher on contract for Wangkhao College.

The ENCSU issued a press release on Thursday stating its disapproval.

The ENCSU stated its ‘intense opposition’ to the decision of the department of Higher Education for the appointment at Wangkhao College.

“The ENCSU totally against the contractual appointment system at the colleges in eastern Nagaland,” the press release stated.

The group declared its total opposition to contractual appointments in colleges besides opposing ‘any hiring or contingency systems of contract teachers’ appointment.’ The union will not consider ‘such types of system practice in eastern colleges,’ the press release stated.

According to the press release, it will ‘definitely affect the students’ community and create more problems in the education sector.’

The ENCSU also asked the state government and the department to look into the present group of lecturers in some colleges.

The students’ organisation urged the government and the department to “rectify and reshuffle the assign post and send to where the teacher is in shortage at present.”

The group questioned the department “why the department are not aware of shortage of lectures in Wangkhao College when the semester exam is just nearby students?” The organisation has demanded only regular teacher for colleges.

The press release stated that “some colleges are functioning without the college principal.” The shortage of lectures is not only in that particular college but in all the four government colleges which are facing hardships “due to shortage of teachers in each subject department in eastern areas.”
