DTF conducts free medical camp at Longleng and Tamlu

Dimapur, Aug. 16 (EMN): In connection with the Independence Day celebration, the District Task Force, Beti Bachao Bati Padhao (BBBP) conducted a one day free medical camp exclusively for women and girl child at Mt. Carmel School in Longleng and at local ground in Tamlu Sub-Division.

According to the DIPR, 998 patients were registered in Longleng and free medical facilities were provided. Ultra sound tests were conducted to 30 pregnant women. Meanwhile in Tamlu, 161 female patients availed the facilities provided by the camp.

The activities during the medical camp were baby show (0-6 months); vaccination drive; awareness and sensitization on Sukhunya Samriddhi Account Yojana (Hindi for ‘girl child prosperity account’); display of movies and videos on BBBP; distribution of information, education, and communication materials; and free medical check-up.

The medical team was led by Longleng chief medical officer Dr. Kongyan Phom and medical superintendent of Longleng district hospital Dr. Toshirenla.  In Tamlu, the medical camp was conducted under Dr. Baungan and Dr. James Primary Healthcare, Tamlu.

The minister for Health and Public Health Engineering department, Jacob Zhimomi, inaugurated the medical camp at Longleng. He also inspected the camp and interacted with the doctors, nurses, and other health works during his visit. The medical camps were conducted under the supervision of the district administration of Longleng led by chairman of District Task Force, John Tsulise Sangtam, the DIPR informed.
