DIMAPUR — The Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) has informed eligible institutions and organisations in Kohima district about the Dr. Ambedkar Scheme, which provides grants for celebrating the birth/death anniversaries of great saints.
According to a DIPR report, the objective of the scheme is to promote social justice by addressing inequality and discrimination and by improving the conditions of the weaker sections of society through awareness and commemorative programmes.
Under the scheme, NGOs registered on the NGO Portal of NITI Aayog and in existence for at least two years, as well as government and private colleges, universities and institutes recognised by the UGC or state/central governments, are eligible to apply for financial assistance.

Eligible NGOs may avail a grant-in-aid of INR 2 lakh, while eligible government and private educational institutions may apply for a grant-in-aid of INR 5 lakh. The grant shall be provided for a maximum of one occasion in a single financial year.
The celebrations under the scheme will be conducted during the period from April 2026 to April 2027.
Interested institutions and organisations may apply in the prescribed application format issued by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, and proposals are to be prepared accordingly.
The application form will be issued by the Development Branch under the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, it stated.
