Dimapur, Nov. 28 (EMN): The deputy chief minister of Nagaland Yanthungo Patton inaugurated on Thursday, November 28, the Doyang Bridge between Tsungiki in Wokha district and Mukhami village in Zunheboto district.

The media cell of the deputy chief minister issued a press release to the media on November 28 informing about the event.

Patton inaugurated the 102.300 Km “Doyang Bridge on NH 61 (NH-2),” which was constructed at an estimated cost of INR 14,47,54,685.610 sanctioned by the ministry of Road Transport and Highways, according to a technical note presented by the NPWD’s (NH) Chief Engineer K Theunuo.

According to the technical report, the bridge has a span of 78.44 meters and has an approach road of 85 meters towards Wokha and 95 meters towards Mokokchung including connection with the existing alignment, the press release stated.

Patton said it was a ‘red letter day for the Nagas’ as the new infrastructure is going to impact many lives positively, the press release stated.

“He congratulated and acknowledged the people of the area for extending their cooperation to the contractor as well as to the department for the completion of the bridge by not allowing any anti social elements to take undue advantage in obstructing and giving hindrance for its completion,” the press release stated.

That said, Patton appealed to the people to take ownership of the newly constructed bridge.

The press release stated that the minister had said that issues concerning landowners anywhere in the state should not be a factor that would hinder any developmental activity. He appealed to the people of the villages to extend their cooperation and to take responsibility to ensure smooth and successful completion of the approved projects, the updates stated.

Also, Patton expressed appreciation to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for taking special initiative and highlighting the revised estimate to Nitin Gadkari, minister for Road Transport and NH without which the project would not have been completed, the press release stated.

Dr. Longriniken, advisor for NH, thanked the people of Tsungiki and Mukhami villagers for their cooperation and efforts toward successful completion of the bridge.

Likewise, Phukayi, adviser for F&CS, said in his short speech that the Naga people as a tribal community are inter-dependent on one another, ‘for which he stated that unity and consultations with one another is imperative for all-round development,’ the press release stated.
