Dimapur, Feb. 9 (EMN):
The Nagaland unit of the National Domestic Workers Movement celebrated what a press release on Saturday called “day of hope,” on February 9 at the Assisi auditorium.

According to the press release, quoting Sister Pramila, the director of Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (Acid), the event was observed with the theme of bringing ‘hope to the hopeless, love to the loveless, care for the uncared, to become voice to those children who are deprived of this all.’

Pikato Tuccu, district child protection unit officer was the “special invitee” for the event, the updates stated.

“This day was celebrated to give and to have hope, parents have the hope towards their children that they become good citizens in the society. They have a good future. Children have the hope that they will become someone in the society, they need to hope today for better tomorrow. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not mine, but I have today. Let’s hope for better,” the updates quoted him as having told the gathering.

The official urged the participants also to avail the benefits from the government that are there for the development and growth of children and women. “We need to grab the availing opportunity.”

Further, Rev. Sr. Mary Dukru, coordinator for Social and Health Apostolate of UFS, spoke about parents’ role. “Our children are precious jewels. We need to take care of them. They are the future. It’s our responsibility to protect them and also to fulfil the basic necessities of life, education plays an important role in (nurturing) the children in to a better citizens,” the updates stated her as having said.

There are 32 ‘child participation groups’ under ACID in and around Dimapur. They aim at identifying children who are deprived of their rights and to promote a platform to bring forth the hidden talents and potentials, the updates stated.
