Dimapur team discusses immunisation drive

Dimapur, Jan. 15 (EMN): In view of the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme (IPPI) on January 19 and National Deworming Day on February 10, a meeting of the district task force on the IPPI, NDD and WIFS was conducted in the DC conference hall of Dimapur on January 14.

The deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Anoop Khinchi, presided over the meeting, updates stated.

The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave updates on Wednesday informing about the meeting.

An official, Dr. Rebecca, highlighted the objectives of the IPPI and informed the gathering that altogether 519 ‘polio booths’ will be set up throughout the district on January 19 2020. There will be house-to-house visits too during the following 2-3 days to immunise children, the IPR stated.

Rebecca, the IPR did not mention her surname, said that identified pockets of migrants and permanently settled populations and transit points like railway stations, bus terminus and taxi stands will also be covered to make sure that all the targeted children are immunised.

Further, she gave a presentation about the National Deworming Day, highlighting the objectives, targeted beneficiaries and implementation, the IPR stated.

During the meeting, a project officer at the UNDP, R Khartu Monsang talked to the gathering about the electronic vaccine intelligence network and cold chain maintenance, the IPR stated.

The deputy commissioner urged everyone involved to sincerely carry out their assigned work for successful implementation of the programme, the IPR stated.
