Dimapur CMO units review Nagaland Health Project

Dimapur, Nov. 12 (EMN): District health establishments in Dimapur district conducted a meeting on November 8 to review work concerning the Nagaland Health Project of the chief medical officer’s establishment, Dimapur.

Updates stated that Achum, a consultant for the Nagaland Health Project gave an overview of the project. He was stated to have informed that the project’s main objectives are to improve the health services, increase utilisation ‘by communitisation,’ and invest in water and sanitation, solar power, supply chain management and capacity building.

The health programme aims also to strengthen community involvement in improving the health care and nutrition, and its outcome.

A district facilitator Abino, no surname given in the updates, presented an overview of the project activities that have been undertaken in the district. She informed that so far 59 landscaping projects have been completed in various health units while 57 training sessions have been conducted in the district.

Further, she highlighted block-wise achievements besides listing out the challenges in the way of the project during its implementation.

Further, another consultant with the Nagaland Health Project Sophy, highlighted the supply chain management and information communication technology (ICT), emphasising on the benefits of effective Logistics System and envisioned ICT Initiatives, the updates stated.

The director of the Health Services, also the project director of the Nagaland Health Project Dr. Vizolie said that the health project was a complimenting and supplementing programme to the already existing health service delivery in the state. It is not a duplicated programme, he said.

The health official told the health workers in the department to work with concerted efforts to provide quality health services and achieve targets. He spoke about various innovative ways to tackle shortage of medical officers especially in the remote rural areas taken care of by the department, the updates stated.

In another matter, Vizolie lamented, “Absenteeism is the major issue in the implementation of any program.” He was stated to have urged the medical fraternity to live up to the expectation of the people by providing regular and quality health services.

Vizolie inspected civil works at the district hospital of Dimapur and the School of Nursing, the updates stated.

Another health official Dr. Rebecca Y Sema, informed the members about the upcoming ‘National Newborn Week’ ie., November 15-21. She said Dimapur district has been adjudged the best performing district for AFP & Measles Surveillance activities in the state. She expressed appreciation and congratulated the health workers for their efforts.
