Classic Cup: Kohima Eagles, Rustic Boys win

Kohima, Nov. 11 (EMN): The Kohima Eagles FC and Rustic Boys FC Thizama won their respective matches on the sixth day of the ongoing 25th Classic Cup at Khuochiezie local ground, in Kohima on Monday.

The football extravaganza organised by Classic Club Kohima on the theme “Together We Can” will conclude on November 23.

In the first match of the day, Kohima Eagles defeated Naga Jaguars FC 3-0 to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Kohima Eagles’ talisman Shürhosül Zhotso scored a hat-trick to ensure a win for his team. He scored in the 7th, 39th and 41st minutes of the game.

In the second match of the day, Rustic Boys FC beat Head Hunters 4-3 via penalty shootout after the match ended in a goalless draw.

During the tie-breaker, four penalty takers — J Dhale, Jangminla, Athishu Lerite and Zhabulie – scored for the Rustic Boys FC but only three — Haontingmang, Sovami and Khekiho – scored for the Head Hunters, the runners-up of the recently concluded 5th Capt. Kenguruse Football Memorial Tournament.
