Dimapur, Jan. 21 (EMN): In a mass social work initiated by the Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) on Monday at Longleng town, residents cleaned the surroundings of, and built fencings around, 11 government schools and the district hospital.

The staff of PBCA and Longleng Town Baptist Church then repaired the roads by filling up potholes in the entire stretch of the town, according to a press release from the association. The ‘community service day’, it informed, was conceptualised by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council to render voluntary service to the community.

“When there is a paradigm shift in all perspectives in the society, a church cannot be in isolation. Church has to be with the human community, with the people and for the people. Gospel needs social praxis. As such, this Community Service Day reflects church in social action and social transformation,” read the statement.

The association also urged all the head of departments, both government and NGOs, to be stationed at the headquarters (Longleng) and render service to the community with full dedication. Longleng is a new district and it needs collective hands to develop the district to the fullest, it reasoned.
