Dimapur, July 16 (EMN): As part of a Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyan (National Nutrition Mission) event, a “local food” show was conducted on July 16 at new Chumoukedima village in Dimapur.

The government publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), offered updates on Tuesday about the programme.

The event was organised by the department of Social Welfare in partnership with self help groups and the agriculture department, the IPR stated.

Presiding over the formal segment of the event, a supervisor of the Social Welfare department, Chubameren, explained the “importance of food” for healthy living, balanced diet, and of proper hygiene for children and pregnant women and mothers.

Another official, supervisor Ahule also talked about the aims and purpose of the Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyan and how the level of nutrition can be reduced.

Likewise, the IPR reported, she spoke about how people can avail schemes and benefits for children and women. She appealed to all self help groups and women present to be part of the movement.

Aying from the National Rural Livelihood Mission talked about safe drinking, and the importance of washing hands, and of healthy drinking and eating. Likewise, she emphasised on the “intensive awareness campaign which is aimed at insuring holistic development and adequate nutrition for children and mothers,” the IPR reported.

Aying, no surname given, was stated to have advised the gathering to ensure maintaining a healthy diet during their children’s infancy and childhood ‘for better future of the society,’ the IPR reported.

The next “convergence activity” will be conducted in August at Medziphema town, the IPR added.
