DIMAPUR — The Chümoukedima District Gorkha Union (CDGU) was formed on September 17 following a meeting at the Singrijan Village Council Hall in Chümoukedima.
According to a press release, the reason for the formation of the union is to maintain cooperation, harmony, and good will among the Gorkhas and Nepalis of Chümoukedima district, as well as to promote unity and equality.
The union will function under the supervision and guidance of the Nagaland Gorkha Association as a constituent body and was formed under the initiative of Chümoukedima Gorkha Union, Singrijan and Khopanala Village Council, Medziphema Gorkha Union, Chümoukedima Village Gorkha Union, Kirha Village Gorkha Union, Seithekema Basa Gorkha Union, 5th Mile Model Village Gorkha Union, Seithekema C Gorkha Union, Seithekema A Gorkha Union, Tenyiphe Gorkha Union, and Dhansaripar Gorkha Union.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]At the meeting, Tezu Pradhan, head GB, Singrijan and Khopanala village, and Suraj Rai, vice president, Nagaland Gorkha Association, encouraged the Gorkha community in Chümoukedima district to be hardworking and responsible in order to achieve the union's goal.
Gopal Lama of Chümoukedima town was elected as the union's new president, with Nanda Kumar Pradhan of Singrijan village serving as vice president, Sambu BK of Medziphema serving as vice president, John Dornal Chettri of Tenyiphe serving as general secretary, and Dole Lama of Seithke Basa serving as joint secretary.
The treasurer is Dhananjay Mishra of Khopanala village, the finance secretary is Arjun Adhikari of Chümoukedima Village, the information and publicity secretary is Rudra Pandey of Kirha Village, and the cultural secretary is Hari Gauli of Seithekema C.
Ajay Thapa, general secretary of the Gorkha Students' Union Chümoukedima District, presided over the meeting.
