Dimapur, Oct. 9 (EMN): Chinese President Xi Jinping will be in India on a two-day starting today for the second informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Tamil Nadu’s Mahabalipuram near Chennai. He is expected to arrive in Chennai on Thursday afternoon.

The first informal summit between Modi and Xi was held in the Chinese city of Wuhan from April 27 to the 28th last year.

“At the invitation of the Prime Minister, the President of the People’s Republic of China H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping will be visiting Chennai, India from October 11-12, 2019 for the 2nd Informal Summit,” read a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs.

“The forthcoming Chennai Informal Summit will provide an opportunity for the two leaders to continue their discussions on overarching issues of bilateral, regional and global importance and to exchange views on deepening India-China Closer Development Partnership,” it added.
