Chakhesang youth ministry celebrates jubilee

Kohima, Nov. 10 (EMN): The youth ministry of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima (CBCK) began its two-day 50 years jubilee celebration on Saturday afternoon at the CBCK premises in Kohima.
The celebration started with the unveiling of jubilee plaque by CBCK senior pastor Rev. Khrotso Mero.
According to the jubilee organizing committee convenor Khriehuzo Lohe, who led the service, the CBCK youth ministry, which started as a fellowship by a few people who came to Kohima to pursue education, had seen tremendous changes and growth over the last 50 years. He highlighted that the church’s Christian Youth Endeavour (CYE) was officially formed 1968.

the years, he said, the youth ministry gradually became a major department contributing not only to the church but also representing the Chakhesang community at various state level programmes.
During the evening service, retired Additional Director General of Police, MV Chakhesang, who is also the first chairman of the CYE, released the 50 years jubilee souvenir.

Souvenir committee secretary  Weto Losou statrd that MV Chakhesang was a man of strong conviction who put the CYE in its formal ‘ecclesiological shape’ in 1968 became its first chairman.
Prior to this, he said the Chakhesang Students’ Fellowship was held at sporadic intervals since 1952.

He made a special mention of few persons including Mütühülü, Vetsütsolü, Zapovelü, Punühü and Thüpule as those who played key roles in keeping the fellowship active.

Later on, the CYE came to be known as the youth department, then after the CBCK’s golden jubilee in 2010, the department came to be known as the CBCK youth ministry.
During the worship service, senior pastor Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers Hill Kohima and president Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao delivered the greetings while Rev. Khrotso Mero spoke on the topic ‘Marvelous is the God of Ages’.

Meanwhile, Rev. Dr. Vesekhoyi Tetseo, general secretary Asian Pacific Baptist Federation (APBF) and Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, general secretary Nagaland Baptist Church Council will be the main speakers at the morning and evening services on Nov. 11 respectively. Rev. Vikuo Rhi and Mulüvoyi Nienu will also share .
