Campaign for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao commences in Phek

As part of the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” campaign, the Phek district kick started an all-girls music band competition, with theme “Your Voice, Your Strength,” on July 13 at Pfutsero.

Held at Government Higher Secondary School Pfutsero, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Pfutsero, Zeneikhonuo Vimero said that the main objective of the competition was to create awareness on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao which is a national campaign.

Vimero mentioned that girls health, nutrition and sanitation are the core focus of the campaign.

She called upon all the members to protect and promote a girl child.

Altogether, 10 all girls band representing eight schools and colleges participated in the event.

Renowned musician Lichen Kitchu and Narola Jati  and DK entertainment led by Senti Longchar, also entertained the audience with special appearances who were also the judges along with John Pfokrelo.

The girls band from Nazareth School bagged the first position while Girls band TMTHSS and Baptist School Kohima stood first and second runners up respectively.

The winners and participants were awarded with cash prizes.

Meanwhile, the next event will be held at Chizami sub division on July 15, followed by the next event at Chozuba sub division on July 20, Phek Sadar at Phek on July 24 and at Meluri sub division on July 27.

The grand finale has been scheduled for August 3 at Phek Town.

This event is organised by district administration Phek in collaboration with District Level Centre for Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra Phek under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme.
