Dimapur, Oct. 22 (EMN): Opposition leader TR Zeliang has questioned why the Speaker/Deputy Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) is not calling for a meeting of the Joint Legislators Forum (JLF) on Naga political issue.

In a letter addressed to the Speaker of NLA, Zeliang asked if the proposed meeting of the JLF on October 4 at Chumoukedima was postponed at the request of Governor RN Ravi, why hasn’t the Speaker or the Deputy Speaker fixed another date yet?

“It is very unfortunate that the ruling bench has sidelined the opposition members on this issue regardless of the unconditional support that we have rendered through and through towards this cause. If we may bring to your attention, members of the JLF had unanimously constituted a Parliamentary Working Committee (PWC) comprising 32 members from both the benches with the sole purpose of apprising Central leaders for an early solution,” read the letter.

Zeliang went on to allege that the chief minister “according little or no regard to the PWC” has sent the “wrong signal” to some central leaders.

“Given the stand of the government of India and the NSCN (IM) on the issue of flag and constitution, JLF needs to urgently facilitate in whatever way it can. Therefore, you are requested to call a meeting of the JLF at the earliest time possible,” it further read.
