Business community discusses on harassment

Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Business Association of Nagas (BAN) and East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA) on Friday held a joint meeting with the business community at DCCI office and thoroughly discussed the issue of constant harassment meted out to business community in Dimapur and other districts by the various ‘Naga political groups’ in the form of shop registration fee, trade license fee, yearly taxation, information slips containing monetary demand etc which were subsequently followed by threats in the event of non payment. “These activities have seriously affected the businessmen and made their survival almost impossible. In view of this perilous situation, the joint meeting resolved to fervently appeal all Naga political groups to understand the ground realities and create congenial atmosphere for business community to earn their source of livelihood,” they said.
According to the business community, in connection with the above stated point, the joint meeting resolved to strongly appeal the various district administrations, police and the state government to pull up their socks and take effective action against all illegal activities perpetrated upon business community in the state especially Dimapur and rescue businessmen from further hardships.
