Be ready to face life – Rio to students

Dimapur, Aug. 10 (EMN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today congratulated St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama with regard to the accreditation that   the college has achieved especially with regard to the  recent grading of the college by the AAAC under Hr. Education, Govt. of Nagaland with A++ grade.

A press release received here today informed that the annual graduation day was held on August 10  2018 at the College Indoor Stadium.

The chief minister, while congratulating the fresh graduates, appreciated the college and commented on the beautiful campus of the college, and praised the SJC as being ‘extremely good’ which induces the parents to send their children to the college .

The CM said that not everyone gets opportunity to get quality education, therefore he exhorted the students to have confidence in life, and added that ‘real life begins after graduation’. He challenged the students to be ready to face life, which he termed is, exciting but also full of challenges.

Saying that the government is addressing the immediate issues in the state, the chief minister  listed out some of the main priorities that his government like the grant for  the VDBs, household schemes, releasing teachers’ salary and disbursing students scholarship.

Terming the unemployment over 70.000 unemployed youth of the state as a huge problem, Rio said that his government is attending to the needs of the people concerned. He said that the society is living under pressure because many ‘Nagas do not earn but spend’; he therefore, called for changing the trend.

In this connection, he said that there should be a way for private sectors to grow; not only always looking for the white collar jobs in the state.

The chief minister cited the example of Japanese footballers and their fans who clean the stadium and their hostels,  and said that right attitude, work ethics, responsibilities, respecting laws, good manners should become the habit of the people.

Awards to meritorious students were also given at the programme. The award carried a medal, a trophy, citation and a personal gift. Other rank holders in the university examinations were also awarded, stated a press release received here from the college.

  5. Alumni Association Award :              Mr. Thupuphi Rakho
  6. Best Science Award :              Miss Avitoli Achumi
  7. APJ Abdul Kalam Award :              Miss W. Elanbeni Kikon
  8. Dr. Talimeren Ao Award :              Mr. Vishasiiho Khatso
  9. Mahatma Gandhi Award :              Miss Thejasenuo Kire
