Assam Rifles seize drugs worth INR 11.35 cr.

Imphal, May 29 (EMN): The troops of Assam Rifles on Wednesday claimed to have seized a huge quantity of drugs worth approximately INR 11.35 crores along Asian Highway (NH102), according to a press release.

“On May 28, at around 1.15pm based on specific input, troops of Assam Rifles stopped a Silver colour Omni Van (MN 01AG 2412) travelling from Moreh to Imphal for checking,” said Assam Rifles (South) PRO in a press release

“On carrying out a thorough check of the vehicle, a white coloured powder suspected to be Heroin contained in 33 packets and weighing approx 400 grams, WIY(World is Yours) tablets 3,13,000 in number and Orange colour powder suspected to be Brown Sugar contained in 15 packets weighing approximately 180 grams were found hidden under the rear seat of the vehicle.”

The vehicle was being driven by one Md Feroz Khan (28) a resident of Ward no 5, Muslim Nagar, Moreh town under Tengnoupal district. The accused along with the vehicle and contraband items have been handed over to Tengnoupal police, the release added.

In another development, Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles constructed a community hall at New Mongjang village on May 29. The hall will serve as a common platform for the people of the community and will bring a spirit of unity, co-operation and harmony.
