Assam Rifles conducts civic action activities

Dimapur, Dec. 11 (EMN): Continuing with its civic action programme, the Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (N) carried out various activities in different parts of the state during the past one week.
Trip for NCC girls
The Mon battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a trip for the 21st Nagaland Girl Battalion NCC from Konjong Higher Secondary School to the operating base in Lungwa on December 7. The cadets were informed about the various entrance schemes available for girl cadets to join armed forces.
Weapon display was also organised followed by small arms firing. Altogether, 24 girl cadets along with four staff participated in the event.
Football
The Dimapur battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a friendly football match with the team from Khushiabil village on December 10.
The aim of the football friendly was to extend an opportunity to local youths to showcase their talent and to motivate talented players to pursue sports for better opportunities. The match was followed with distribution of footballs and goalpost nets along with cash prizes to a few selected individuals.
Health discourse
The Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a lecture as part of the ‘Swatchhta Pakhwada’ at Tening village council hall on December 9. The lecture covered topics about communicable diseases such as dengue and malaria, and their causes and preventions.
A total of 42 residents attended the lecture.
In another programme, a mass ‘Shram Daan’ was also organised at Peren district. The aim of the event was to sensitise the local populace about the importance of a clean and healthy environment and the ill effects associated with unhygienic lifestyle.
Altogether, 685 residents participated in the cleanliness drive along with troops of Assam Rifles.
Medical camp
The Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles also organised a free medical camp at Peletkie village in Peren district on December 9. The aim of the medical camp was to provide free medical consultation and treatment to local residents who cannot avail the required medical facilities.
Medicines were provided to the patients without any cost. Altogether, 134 patients including 64 male, 52 female and 18 children were treated during the camp.
Debate competition
The Zunheboto battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a debate competition on the tipic ‘Is Swachh Bharat Abhiyan a success or failure,’ at the ARPS in Zunheboto, on December 9.
It was informed that the students actively participated in the competition by giving their unbiased opinions about the various pros and cons of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative.
In other event, a discourse on hygiene and sanitation was conducted with an aim to promote awareness about health and sanitation, updates stated.
