Dimapur, June 23 (EMN): Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh has secured first rank in the education sector among a total of 117 aspirational districts in the country.

Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant on June 22 conveyed the information to the Arunachal Pradesh government through an official letter sent to Chief Secretary Satya Gopal.

The ranking was based on the incremental progress made in the month of February-March 2019.  As per guidelines of this special initiative, Namsai is now eligible for a one-time additional grant of INR 3 crore, in the nature of untied allocation.

The district had been asked by the NITI Aayog to prepare a plan of action in consultation with the State and Central Prabhari Officers (Namsai) regarding this and send the same to the NITI Aayog in a prescribed format with their recommendations within a fortnight.

The empowered committee of secretaries, constituted for aspirational district programme would further consider the ‘plan of action’ for approval.

According to Northeast Now, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has congratulated the Namsai district administration headed by deputy commissioner Dr. Tapasya Raghav and officers of the education department for the achievement.

This is the result of their tireless efforts that the district has earned this position, Mein said further wishing them success for their future endeavours and urging them to work with more enthusiasm and team spirit.
