Article 371 (A) is in safe hands, says Ram Madhav

Wokha, Sep. 18 (EMN): The BJP national general secretary and in-charge of Northeast and Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Madhav on Wednesday said Article 371 (A), which contains special provisions for Nagas, is in   safe hands and that it will never be taken away from the people.

The BJP leader was speaking at a meeting convened by the BJP Nagaland unit in Wokha town Tiyi hall on September 18 to clear confusion on article 371 (A) and educate the people on current issue pertaining to article 370 of Jammu and Kashmir. Ministers, advisors and former leaders of BJP along with15 division office bearers of the state attended the meeting.

Madhav stated that Article 370 was a temporary arrangement between the 10th Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru and Sheikh Abdullah, so it can’t be compared with Article 371 (A) which a special provision to the state of Nagaland and enshrined in the Indian Constitution.

He also expressed the desire for early solution to the long-awaited Naga political issue through the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

BJP Nagaland state president and Minister of Higher and Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along, in his presidential address, called on the party workers to work together for better governance and to give a helping hand to the poor and the needy. He also urged the people to clear their doubts by studying an issue before speaking out in the social media and create confusion.

Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton deputy Chief Minister requested the people to commit themselves for the growth of the party and assured good governance to the people of Nagaland.

He called upon all 15 divisions office bearers to disseminate and educate the people on the difference between Article 370 and Article 371 (A). He also expressed happiness on the growth of the BJP through the effort of the party workers, claiming that more than three lakh people registered during the enrolment drive. He assured Madhav of increasing the number to four lakh by the end of this year.

H Haiying, advisor Prisons, Printing and Stationary, spoke on Article 370, Sampark Abhiyan and Jan Jagran Abhiyan. Minsters Kashiho Sangtam and S Pangnyu Phom also spoke at the event.
