All Nagaland Open Badminton Championship begins

Kohima, Oct. 23 (EMN): The 2nd All Nagaland Open Badminton Championship organised by Crescent Club on the theme “Battle for Excellence” began at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Officers’ Hill, Kohima, on October 23.

It was informed that a total of 106 players have registered to participate in the championship which will played in various categories such as veterans 85+ men’s doubles, veterans 95+ men’s doubles, mixed doubles and amateur. The total cash prize for the champions of various categories is INR 1.30 lakh.

The tournament was organised solely to promote local players of the state, said Temjen, president of Crescent Club, Kohima. He said that many players from the state do not get opportunity to play outside the state, so they have the platform for them.

Stating that badminton is one of the most essential sports because it keeps one fit and healthy, he encouraged young players to be active sportsperson as sports can help them in developing a sense of comradeship.

The championship will culminate on October 25.
