Dimapur, March 23 (EMN): The Ministry of Civil Aviation has directed all domestic flights in the country to stop operating from March 24 at 11.59 pm until further notice, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The ministry issued a notification informing that only cargo planes would be allowed to operate.

The decision was taken a week after all international flights were stopped, and after many states in the country went into lockdown mode to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The director of Dimapur Airport, Mughavi Zhimo confirmed the news to Eastern Mirror and said that all flights to Dimapur would stop operating from March 24 midnight untill further notice.

He further informed that the Dimapur Airport does not have cargo flights operating in and out of it.

When queried about stranded passengers headed to Nagaland, Zhimo informed that the airlines would communicate with the passengers separately.

The press information bureau, in a tweet, also stated that all restrictions would solely be on commercial flights and not cargo carrying flights.

The station manager of Indigo airlines, Dimapur told Eastern Mirror that no official letter has been received yet.
