Kohima, April 8 (EMN): Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Pfutsero in Phek district, has issued directives to farmers for strict adherence in their agricultural activities during the lockdown period.
ADC Pfutsero, Phuleshe K Yepthomi, informed Eastern Mirror that the farmers are allowed to go to their own fields as the people in the sub-division solely depended on agriculture for their livelihood.
According to the directives, farmers could perform their agricultural activities from 8 am to 4 pm. However, they were not allowed to take vehicles to the field and also should strictly maintain social distancing. They are asked to go back straight home from field and not roam around.
He informed that 99 percent of the residents are cooperating well with the administration. He also shared that some NGOs are helping the needy people by providing essential items.
“Along with some organisations, we are identifying the poor and needy people under the jurisdiction and trying to help them,” he said. He also informed that the sub-division has not received any essential commodities or goods for distribution from the government side.
“But we are working on it and trying to arrange help for those people who are really in need,” Yepthomi added.
He further informed that grocery stores are opened from 6 am to 12 noon on weekdays and added that only one member from a household is allowed to go out to buy goods or collect ration.
