AAI, Manipur govt. sign MoA for new accident and trauma centre

Imphal, Aug. 23 (EMN):
A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Manipur state government for procurement of essential equipments for new Accident and Trauma Centre (ATC), Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of AAI was signed on Friday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Imphal.

Speaking at the signing programme, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that more than 70 companies would be participating at the upcoming event.

He said the government is expecting large scale CSR investment in Manipur and is hopeful to receive positive response from many corporate firms.

The chief minister announced that the procurement of equipments for the ATC of JNIMS the total amount of INR 4.95 crore will be funded by the AAI under the CSR project.

Appreciating the AAI for their initiative, he informed that the AAI has already donated one ambulance for the state Health department and also agreed to sanction another one for emergency purposes. He appealed the authority of JNIMS to procure quality equipments.

Talking to Eastern Mirror, AAI Regional Executive Director Sanjiv Jindal said that that initially only about 10% of the project cost will be released and 80% will be released once the project is ready to start. The remaining 10% will be released after the completion of the works.

State Chief Secretary Dr. J Suresh Babu, Principal Secretary (Health) V Vumlunmang, Principal Secretary (Finance) Rakesh Ranjan, Secretary to CM Ningthoujam Geoffrey, Director Senthil Valavan of Imphal International Airport(IIA), Deputy General Manager SS Raju of IIA, Director Prof Th Bhimo of JNIMS led officials and others attended the function.
