25th edition of ND trophy to begin on Oct. 28

Dimapur, Oct. 12: The 25th edition of late Nyamo Lotha and Daniel Lotha (ND) running trophy, a football tournament, on the theme “reminiscing pioneers” will start on October 28 at the state stadium, DC court, in Dimapur.

This was informed by the organisers, Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU) at a press conference on Saturday at Lotha Hoho Ki in Dimapur.

The DLSU executives informed that the prize money for the 25th edition of Late ND running trophy is INR 1 lakh for the champions and INR 70,000 for the runners-up. They added that five individual winners in the category of player of the tournament, highest scorer, best defender, best goalkeeper and young emerging player will be awarded with INR 5000 each to be sponsored by Puma store Dimapur proprietor Zubeni L Imchen.

According to the organisers, the trophy of the tournament and football will be sponsored by Kiran Sports Dimapur will sponsor, presentation by Arrow showroom proprietor Anand Sethi and best discipline by retired director EH Lotha.

Late Nyamo Lotha’s son Tsenthungo Lotha, who was present at the unveiling of the trophy, acknowledged the DLSU for maintaining consistency in organising the tournament and expressed hope that the 25th edition will display the same sacrifice, effort, energy and spirit.

Lotha said the tournament, for the family, was a forum for the young upcoming players and leaders who would lead the community and that the trophy was a contribution to the young upcoming football players and leaders. He also expressed hope that with the DLSU taking the responsibility, peace, tranquillity and sportsmanship will be maintained during the tournament.

The organisers informed that registration fee for participation in the tournament is INR 6000 and forms can be collected from N. Grocery shop at court junction in Dimapur starting on October 14 and the last date for submission of forms is October 24. They also informed that the tournament fixture will be drawn on October 25. It may be mentioned that Lotha Colony Football Club have won the trophy

The defending champion of the late Nyamo Lotha and Daniel Lotha running trophy is the Lotha Colony Football Club who have won for two consecutive years.
