Dimapur, Oct. 27 (EMN): Sixteen teams are in the fray for 13th NEC Tamchon Football Tournament, which got underway at the Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi on October 26.
An update from the organisers, Tangkhul Naga Society Delhi (TNSD), informed that the winner will get INR 6 lakh; first runner-up, INR 6 lakh; and second runner-up, INR 2 lakh. The tournament is also a cultural event for the Northeast community in Delhi, it informed.
In the first match of the tournament, SSPP defeated Muvanlai Athletics 2-0. The opening day had Dr. Lorho S Pfoze, Lok Sabha MP, as chief guest.
The event is being held on the theme ‘Unity, Friendship, Understanding and Sportsmanship’. Since 2007, the TNSD has been organising the event with the ultimate intention to foster unity in diversity. The event also witnessed many performances by vocal artists; vibrant Khasi war dance by Ki Samla Khasi Ha Nongbah group and Nocte traditional dance from Arunachal Pradesh.
