Zeliangrong organisation temporarily lifts ban

Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): An organisation’s complete ban on the construction works of national project in Zeliangrong areas in Manipur has been lifted.
The Zeliangrong Baudi of Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland issued a press release on Wed. Oct. 17 through its general secretary stating that the complete ban on construction works of national project in Zeliangrong areas which has been enforced since midnight of Sep. 12, demanding arrest of NSCN (IM) functionaries namely one Sangailung Pamei, CAO, Thailik @ Joel, deputy kilonser and Khangdih Gangmei, captain, for abduction of youth and student’s leaders on Aug. 4 at

Tamenglong district HQ and intimidation and serious threat meted out to leaders of Zeliangrong Civil Organisations has been lifted with immediate effect from Oct. 17 on temporary basis depending on the follow up action of the government of Manipur and government of India. However, the ban on construction work of Imphal-Kangchup road under the ADB funding will still continue.

The organisation stated that the decision to lift the ban was taken during a meeting with the Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh at his office at around 11 am. The chief minister of Manipur have assured nine members delegation of Zeliangrong Civil Organisations led by Athuan Abonmai, president, Zeliangrong Baudi

(Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) comprising of Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur, Zeliangrong Youth Front and Zeliangrong Students’ Union that necessary step will be taken in coordination with the government of India.
