Zeliangrong ancestral land expedition flagged off

The Zeliangrong Ancestral Land Expedition 2014 titled “Treading on the Historical Legacy”, a sequel to the “Homecoming to Makuilongdi-2012”, jointly organized by the Zeliangrong Citizens’ Forum (ZCF) and the Zeliro Adventure Club (ZAC), was flagged off from Tening town under Peren district on November 20. On November 22, the ZCF & ZAC expedition team led by Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) president Raitu Chawang, performed ‘UniTree’ (the Bayan tree plantation) at the tri-junction of Lalong, Hangrum and Asalu, under Assam to mark the symbol of Zeliangrong Inpui people’s unity. The adventure also aims at promoting a sense of brotherhood among Zeliangrong Inpui and other communities with whom it has close ethnic connection.
Speaking at the occasion, the Zeliang Baudi president said the expedition will go a long way in promoting a sense of brotherhood among Zeliangrong Inpui people and others.
“May this UniTree planted on this day forever remind the sons and daughters of Makuilongdi apropos the indestructible bond of consanguinity and strive for common homeland by breaking down the artificial boundaries,” he said.
The expedition team on bikes started from Tening town and passed through Njauna –Nagaland – Magulong –Manipur – Mount Kisha-Magulong Lalong, Hangrum – Assam – Laishong, Halflong, Ramgaijang, Silchar, Ramgaizang, Makoi, Tousem, Barak waterfalls, Zeilad lake, Namtiram, Haochong, Phalong and Longmai (Noney). While informing that the journey of the expedition team will conclude on November 30 at Longmai under Tamenglong district, the ZCF & ZAC have invited all interested Zeliangrong youths to participate in the closing programme of the expedition.
