Zeliang and Acharya greets Home Guards and Civil Defence

Government enhances honorarium of Home Guards personnel from INR 150 to 520 per day

Dimapur, Dec. 5 (EMN): Chief Minister TR Zeliang and Governor PB Acharya have extended greetings on the occasion of the raising day of Civil Defence and Home Guards. “I am happy to learn that the Nagaland Civil Defence and Home Guards organization is observing its Raising Day on 6th of December, 2017 along with the other states of the country.
“Originally raised as a subsidiary force for aiding the state police and civil administration in maintenance of law and order, over the years the role and responsibilities of Civil Defence and Home Guards have grown hugely,” read a statement from the chief minister.
Zeliang expressed confidence that “with the recent enhancement of their daily allowance from Rs. 150 to Rs. 520 per day, the CD & HG personnel will continue to work with renewed dedication and right motivation”.
In a separate statement, the governor stated that the Nagaland Civil Defence and Home Guards “have been doing a commendable job in rendering yeomen service to the people.” He also hoped that the enhanced honorarium ‘will propel and strengthen the Home Guard personnel’s family and economic life’.
