Kohima, Jan. 15 (EMN): A week-long youth festival cum Sükrünye festival of the Chakhesang community organised by the Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) successfully concluded in Phek town on January 15. The festival was held on the theme “Tapping the feats.”
Gracing four-day event, Dr. Chotisuh Sazo, advisor of social welfare, stressed on how the ancestors embraced all the hard work forgetting all the struggles with the hope to celebrate its reward. He advised the youth not to overlook the ancestors’ traditional moral values and work culture. He called upon the youth to continue upholding dignity of labour and at the same time feel free to engage in manual works.
Dr. Sazo also advised the youth not to focus only on government job, which has reached a saturation point, but to opt for other avenues and be self reliant. He further requested denizens of Phek to support clean election campaign initiated by NBCC.
Earlier, the programme was chaired Thuputo Venuh, while Kukhrulu Vero entertained the crowd with special number.
In series of competition held, New Colony emerged as group champion and received a cash prize of INR 1 lakh, while the runners up team Bethany-2 colony received INR 80,000 and the second runners up team Zion colony received INR 60,000. Eight colonies also received INR 10,000 each.
