Kohima, July 4 (EMN): Irked with the state government’s silence following a bust on Nagaland’s former additional superintendent of police and consultant of the state police’s motor transport wing, MKR Pillai on his disproportionate assets case by Income Tax (IT) sleuths, the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) has demanded a CBI probe into the Police Modernisation Funds since 2015 till date.
In this regard, NPYC has submitted a representation to the Governor on July 4 through the deputy secretary demanding CBI probe, and another RTI filed at PHQ to furnish detailed information on police modernisation funds from 2005-2017 .
Addressing media persons at a press conference held at Congress Bhavan this afternoon, NPYC president, Vilhousielie Kengurüse alleged that Pillai’s contract has not been terminated although it was confirmed as so by the DGP Nagaland, LL Doungel on June 14.
It also alleged that the confirmation by the DGP to terminate Pillai’s contract was just an ‘eyewash’ to the public. NPYC also asserted that DGP has a hand to this case and demanded his suspension for some time to ensure fair and just investigation by the CBI.
The NPYC though its RTI Act, 2005 has demanded the department to furnish sanction order copy Police Modernisation project received from the Ministry of Home Affairs department from 2005-2017 and the scheme and amount taken during this period.
It has also demanded to furnish photos of the entire scheme taken up under this project and utilisation certificates under police project during 2005-2017.
Stating that the youth and the public has the right to know the truth, NPYC asked the Police department to come out with the detailed report of the Police Modernisation funds, and expressed hope that the department will act accordingly.
Alleging the present NPF led BJP government as a ‘corrupt government’, NPYC asserted that if the present government has concern for the welfare of the people, it will not hesitate to go for a CBI inquiry into Pillai’s case so that justice is brought to the people of the state.
Stating that the government is playing with the minds and thinking of the Naga public, NPYC has asked the government to press for a CBI probe for a fair and just investigation into the case.
NPYC has also demanded that Home Minister, Y Patton should step down owing moral responsibility as the head of the department, wherein in its representation it has stated ‘meanwhile to allow neutrality, we demand to sack Y Patton, home minister with immediate effect and Pillai be released from consultancy service with immediate effect.
While pointing that the huge amount of unaccounted wealth and properties busted by the IT sleuths, NPYC said the source of income of Pillai has become doubtful, and therefore, it has asked the Governor to bring justice to the people of Nagaland by recommending the case to CBI for investigation and trail of case.
At the same time, NPYC has also demanded a CBI inquiry into the backdoor appointments in the Home department as admitted by Home minister, Y Patton during the assembly that a total of 2078 posts in the Home department were filled up directly without floating advertisement during 2014-17.
Stating that it has lost complete confidence on the present government, NPYC said CBI inquiry is required wherein deserving Naga youths and backward tribes are being deprived of justice and equal opportunity.
The action, it asserted is tantamount to betrayal of Oath of office to do justice to all manners of people without favour or ill-will.
