Mokokchung, Dec. 28 (EMN): A club in Mokokchung town named the ‘Crayon Club’ celebrated their 25th anniversary at Kumlong ward in the town on Dec. 22. The event saw in attendance ward council members, Kumlong Baptist Church leaders, and well-wishers, among others, it was informed.
The Crayon Club, is said to be one of the oldest clubs in the ward, and one among seven clubs in the colony, a press release from the organisation on Thur. informed.
The main speaker at the silver jubilee celebrations was assistant professor of Fazl Ali College, Tiatemsu Mollier. He addressed the event. Speaking at the programme, he congratulated the club on achieving its attaining 25 years.
Speaking on the theme of the celebration–‘Reviviscence’–Tiatemsu Mollier encouraged the club’s members to continue rendering their yeomen service to the good of the society. He encouraged the members to ‘adopt productive living in this competitive modern world’ and to preserve the culture and traditions of the forefathers ‘since it is disappearing in the modern society, especially in the towns.’
Meanwhile, a special prayer was pronounced by the pastor of Kumlong Baptist Church Rev I Lima Jamir who also released the event’s souvenir publication.
The club was stated to have been established by nineteen likeminded youths of Kumlong ward way back in 1992. It is stated to be a non-profit group and ‘apolitical with the sole objective of rendering social service at various platforms.’
