Mokokchung, June 23 (EMN): In a shocking incident this evening, a youth was allegedly beaten to death reportedly following an altercation among a group of friends, police said on Friday.
The deceased, one Sentilong, stated to be a Ph.D student aged around 30 years and hailing from Mopungchuket village was reportedly brought to Imkongliba District Hospital in a blue Alto. However, when the doctors at the hospital declared that he was brought dead, ‘the unknown persons fled from the scene,’ police said.
Sources informed that they had a quarrel while consuming alcohol around 6:30 this evening. Police disclosed that autopsy had been conducted and that the body had been handed over to relatives. Police suspect it to be a case of murder ‘because plank object was used against the victim’ who reportedly had fatal injuries on the forehead and chin.
Senior Superintendent of Mokokchung, Aotemsu, who was at the hospital, informed that a manhunt had already been mobilized to capture the culprits.
