Kohima, May 25 (EMN): Yimchungrü Union Kohima (YUK) celebrated its 25th anniversary at NBCC Convention Hall on May 25.

Advisor of Rural Development, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, who graced the occasion as special guest, congratulated the union and urged them to re-dedicate themselves to God besides the celebration.

Stating that Nagas claimed to be Christians but don’t live like one, he advised the people not be a ‘hypocrite Christian.’ He urged them to introspect and ponder whether they are living according to the teaching of Christ.

He also highlighted on the landowners’ issues being faced by the RD department in various areas. The advisor said he had come across landowners who refused to donate land for road construction but want to travel on good road. On the landowner rights and issues, he stated that Article 371A has become a ‘stumbling block’ towards development in the state. Stating that it is the government that gets the blame, he urged to ‘re-look at all things.’

On white collar jobs, he stated that not everybody can land themselves in a government sector. He, therefore, urged the youngsters to give a serious thought on skill development. “Think of the market issues, take up the responsibility, and become the master of your own,” he advised.

“Nagas have the mindset of getting the best job and ignore other jobs. But there is no job that is too low for anybody,” Dr. Kire added.

Toshi Wungtung, Advisor of IPR, also spoke at the event. He stated that the anniversary is a celebration to be able to co-exist together. To him, Kohima is a city where modernisation is evolving and has played a host to all other communities.

There are more than 350 Yimchungrü households in Kohima. The programme also witnessed variety of presentations by Yimchungrü Baptist Church Kohima (YBCK) youth choir, Yimchung Berü Cultural Club, Kohima YBCK Sunday School etc.
