Dimapur, July 12 (EMN): Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) and its frontal organisations, in an emergency meeting on July 12 at its office at Chekiye village, have demanded the immediate resignation of the R&B minister, Vikheho Swu, on moral grounds for the collapse of bridge at the 4th Mile river near CIHSR hospital which led to loss of four lives and scores injured.
Attributing the bridge collapse to minister’s negligence, which serves as the lifeline of more than 120 villages, WSH said no amount of justification would make up for his misdeed and misappropriation of the amount sanctioned for the bridge to let him hold the office anymore. WSH has demanded an answer from the R&B minister on the amount of Rs 37 crore sanctioned in the year 2015 for the construction and inquired why the work has not yet started till date. It also demanded the police to start initiating an action against those responsible for the negligence of duty and for the misappropriation of funds.
WSH has also cautioned the engineers and contractors that it will not hesitate to resort its own course of action if immediate restoration of the Siethekhema- Patkai road is not repaired for the public and see that quality works are carried out with good workmanship.
While expressing its condolences on the loss of four lives, WSH has demanded an immediate compensation to the deceased families and those injured in the incident.
