Dimapur, Feb. 16: Day four of the second phase of State wide bandh called by Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) and Nagaland Tribes Action Committee (NTAC) continued to witness huge participation from the womenfolk- in particular along Dimapur Airport road to Chumukedima town.

The bandh on Thursday in Dimapur went off peacefully with significant turnout of volunteers at their respective jurisdiction. Unlike the previous days, where bandh was monitored by tribal groups at the station destined to them, Thursday bandh in Dimapur was monitored by volunteers in their respective wards.
The attendance of women volunteers were significant particularly at the Dimapur Airport junction, Diphupar and Chumukedima Town Gate-2 sitting patiently and attending to the needs of the volunteers.

In Chumukedima Town Gate 2 alone, 1320 volunteers assembled including 600 womenfolk in solidarity to the call of JCC and NTAC as per the attendance record of February 16. The women volunteers at Chumukedima town expressed they will continue to sacrifice their daily chores, comforts and continue to extend support for the common cause of the Nagas until it is achieved and even if it means sacrificing food especially after two young lives have been lost.

Women along the Dimapur Airport road junction were seen significantly with placards that read “For Nagas TR Zeliang is dead,” “Pave the way for the future of Nagas generation,” “TR Zeliang resign on moral grounds,” and “TR Zeliang don’t sell the Nagas.”

At Diphupar station, womenfolk’ volunteers outnumbered the men and noticeably taking charge of monitoring the bandh along their jurisdiction in high spirits.
