Wokha administration imposes prohibitory order

Dimapur, May 24 (EMN): In view of the ensuing by-election to the Nagaland parliamentary constituency scheduled on May 28, the Wokha district administration has issued prohibitory order for conduct of free and peaceful election.
In an order, deputy commissioner, Wokha, Manazir Jeelani Samoon, has prohibited carrying of licensed arms, stick, daos, explosives, and machetes. The DC had issued the order basing on power conferred on him under section 144/144A following specific direction of ECI vide No.464/L&)/207/PLN dated 08.01.07 prohibiting carrying of licensed arms, stick, daos, explosives (like fire crackers) machetes.
The order has also prohibited all contesting candidates or their agents or political parties from writing on the walls, pasting posters, paper or defacement in any form or erecting of cut outs, hoardings, banners in public property or public premises without due permissions of from the district magistrate. The order has also prohibited using of PA/ loud speaker system between 10 pm to 6 am as well as carrying cash above INR 50,000 without valid documents.
The DC further informed that the order would come into force within Wokha district with immediate effect till declaration of result. The order would not apply to officials involved in government/ election related work and law enforcing agencies.
