Wild elephants destroy properties in Karbi Anglong

Diphu, June 27 (EMN): At least four houses were destroyed by wild elephant on June 25 midnight in West Karbi Anglong. According to sources, the incident took place at Bedera village under Baithalangso police station where three wild jumbos from nearby forest suddenly made their appearance and damaged four houses belonging to Puneswar Bordoloi, Bhupen Bordoloi, Bhaigo Bordoloi and Nilakanta Bordoloi. All occupants however managed to flee and escaped from the spot leaving their house and properties.
Food grains and other essential items of the four families were completely eaten and destroyed during the attacked by the wild elephants. The affected families have appealed to the concerned department for immediate help and assistance in order to rebuild their homes.
