Kohima, Jan. 8: The Western Angami Sports Association (WASA) games and athletics meet is scheduled to be held from January 11 to 13 at WAPO ground, Sechü Zubza.

During the three-day event, the villages under western Angami region, comprising four groups, will compete in football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, sepak takraw and athletics.

The inaugural function will be graced by Zhaleo Rio, member of legislative assembly, Government of Nagaland, as the chief guest, while Lhouphrevilie Rino, president of Western Angami Public Organisation will be the guest of honour for the closing function.

The inaugural programme would be chaired by Zhasau Sirie, general secretary, WASA, while Khriengulie Kuotsu, pastor, Sechü Zubza Baptist Church, will pronounce the prayer.

WASA president Kobou Mezhünyü will deliver the welcome address and the Catholic Youth Association, Sechü Zubza will present a special number. The administration of oath to the players will be given by Khriesakuolie Khawakhrie, games & sports secretary, WASA.

The selected players will represent WASA at the forthcoming Angami Sports Association meet, scheduled tentatively in the month of February.

As for WASA wrestling championship, it will be held in the later part of this month tentatively on January 25 at Kohima local ground.
