Weeklong training on Community Action for Health held

Dimapur, April 15 (EMN): The office of the Chief Medical Kohima along with District Health Society, department of Health & Family Welfare conducted a weeklong training on Community Action for Health (CAH) under the district from April 2 to 9th. It was organised under the aegis of National Health Mission (NHM).

Rokoseno Thapo (DCM) and Kungcham Dailiam (Media officer) were the trainers of the programme, informed a statement issued by DR. Laso Lazar, CMO, Kohima. VHCs member, VHSNCs member and ASHAs of the village participated in the training workshop.

The Community Action for Health training highlighted on mobilising community, institutional mechanisms strengthening, capacity building, monitoring and planning, public dialogue, and evolving village-level health plans.

“Assessment of Community level covers entitlements under maternal health and child health, adolescent programme, general health services at the village and ICDS, which is to be assessed by VHCs or VHSNCs member,” the statement explained on two formats of training imparted at the event. “Facility Assessment covers services given at different levels – sub centre (SC), primary health centre (PHC), community health centre (CHC) and anganwadi centre (AWC).”

The objectives of the training was to improve accountability and enable better delivery of services, thus build community awareness on health entitlements and initiates corrective action and planning with community engagement. It also provided a platform for community feedback and dialogue with service provider for grievances redressal.
