Weeklong cultural exchange programme at NU culminates

Dimapur, May 2 (EMN): A weeklong cultural exchange programme conducted as a part of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development at Nagaland University, Limami came to close on May 1.
Update received from the university on Wednesday informed that the vice-chancellor in charge, prof. AK Singh was the chief guest of the ceremony held at I Ihoshe Kinimi hall, NU, Lumami campus.
Addressing the gathering, prof. Singh said ‘despite differences it is culture that binds us and builds the heart-to-heart connection.’ He encouraged the visiting students to become brand ambassadors and create a new image of Nagaland, while also acting as the link between Nagaland and Madhya Pradesh.
There were cultural training sessions during the weeklong programme wherein the local students trained the visitors with the Naga folk songs and dances.
Workshops on ‘indigenous agricultural practices of Nagaland,’ and ‘culture and traditional heritage of Nagaland’ were said to have conducted for the visitors. The team was taken on a cultural excursion to historical places at Mokokchung district and had hands-on cultural games and sports.
The culminating programme witnessed the Naga folk song, folk dance, and showcase of cultural attires of Nagaland performed jointly by the students of NU and Dr. Hari Singh Gour University Sagar. The visiting team enthralled the audiences by ‘kathak’ dance.
A folk song titled ‘Sohimozo’ was performed by the students of NU. Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Medziphema campus, Prof. T Lanusosang, registrar in charge, Prof. NS Jamir, and president Nagaland University Students Union of Lumami, Chumseli Anar delivered short speeches.
