Waromung women in Mokokchung celebrate 50 years

Mokokchung, May 23 (EMN): The Waromungtsür Telongjem of Mokokchung (WTTM), an organisation of women hailing from Waromung, on Tuesday celebrated its golden jubilee. The celebration was held at the Aongza Fellowship in Mokokchung town with Dr Chubatola Aier, principal of C-Edge College in Dimapur, as the event’s main speaker.
Speaking to the gathering, Dr Aier said that different civilizations during their period had interpreted the meaning of truth each according to their philosophical outlook.
She explained that the Naga people’s forefathers’ ‘principle of truth’ was accepted wholeheartedly as was spoken.
However, Dr Aier reminded that as ‘we have accepted Christianity, the truth we seek should be emphasized based on the teachings in the Bible.
“For some religion, the truth is God but our religion teaches us that God is the truth and in truth, there is Holy Spirit,” she said. Saying that they were two types of eyes i.e., normal eyes and the conscious mind, Dr Aier remarked that when they are ‘balanced only then will the truth we seek be realized.’
Dr. Aier lamented also that many a times ‘we blind ourselves when we witness the truth and walk away from the truth.’ In this connection, she referred to the tabernacle of Solomon (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14) and opined that ‘if we treasure these principles then we will inherit the truth that we seek.’
Also, S Anungla, former secretary of the Watsu Mungdang, said that jubilees should be an opportunity to focus on bringing positive changes to people and community. She expressed hope that the 50th anniversary celebrations would be an ‘epoch for women empowerment in all aspects,’ as, she said, women are at the forefront in many fields of human endeavour.
