VYO 71st sports meet gets underway

Kohima, Jan. 10: A four-day long 71st wrestling-cum-sports meet of the Viswema Youth Organization (VYO) commenced at John Government Higher Secondary School Ground, Viswema, on Tuesday.
Deputy Director of Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Kohima, Dr. Hovithal Sothu, who graced the inaugural function of the event, encouraged sportspersons to commit themselves in their respective disciplines with sincerity. He said in order to compete with others in this competitive world, one has to stay focused on what they are good at.
“You have to reach to the highest level to be in sports, education and other fields,” he implored the youth.
Also pointing out that there is no place for mediocrity today, the official urged upon the youth to give their best and asked them to go through trainings and make sacrifices to fulfil their desired goals.Calling upon the youth to excel in their respective fields and bring fame and glory to the village, he further encouraged them to believe in themselves and become assets to the village in particular and the state in general.
Earlier, a newly constructed Rostrum was dedicated by pastor VCRC Nosezol Valeo.
The inaugural function of the four-day event was chaired by VYO president Visakho Kiso, while the VYO games & sports secretary Vikekul Sothu administered oath to the participating sportspersons.
The different disciplines being played at the event included football, Naga wrestling, track & field events, volleyball, sepaktakraw and bamboo-walk.
