Viswema Catholic youths observe ‘Youth Day’

Dimapur, Sep 13 (EMN): Viswema Catholic Youth Association (VCYA) celebrated its 41st Annual Youth Day on September 10 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Viswema, on the theme “My son, give me your heart and let your eyes delight in my ways” (Proverbs 23:26).
Rev. Fr. Charles D’Sauza, parish priest of Mary Help of Christians Parish, Jakhama, was the main celebrant of the Eucharistic celebration which was dedicated especially for the youth and Zhoto Stephen Naleo, advisor SACYA and former president VCYA, was the main speaker of the youth session.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Charles expressed his joy over the growing strength of the youth and encouraged them to joyfully work for the Lord always as they are the future of the church.
The programme witnessed more than 70 choir members from the Mothers’ Association and Fathers’ Association which further encouraged the youth with their special number “Rükhru Mezü” (By the sweat of the cross). Altogether, 89 youth attended the programme.
A youth session was held after the mass in which Zhoto Stephen spoke about the current situations and the challenges that the youth face today. He spoke about the different ways that a youth can fall prey to evil and also different ways to overcome them.
He even touched the audience with his testimony about the hard times he faced in his life and encouraged them to stay strong in faith and prayer.
Competitions in group song and quiz were also held during the youth session among the four groups viz, Mathew, Mark, Luke and John in which Luke group emerged as the overall champion.
The Southern Angami Catholic Youth Association (SACYA) office bearers also attended the programme as special guests.
The youth day programme concluded with a special extravaganza night where many youth showcased their hidden talents.
