Vice President to flag off rally on Kalam’s birth anniversary

New Delhi, Oct. 12 (IANS): To mark the 86th birth anniversary of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on Sunday, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu will flag off the Vision 2020 Clean and Green India rally here.

Organised by APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation, a large number of school students are to participate in the event at India Gate.

Also, Kalam Sandesh Vahini, a bus flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rameswaram on July 27, will reach here on October 15, according to the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation.

S.M. Khan, who had served as Press Secretary to Kalam and is an advisor to the Kalam Foundation, said the exhibition bus will be received by President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday.

The foundation, along with House of Kalam – the late President’s residence in Rameswaram which is now a memorial, has conducted 126 events among colleges and schools in and around Rameswaram. The organisation is also conducting around 86 events in the national capital to commemorate Kalam’s birth anniversary.
