Dimapur, March 28 (EMN): Poultry vaccination cum animal health camp was conducted at Phuhgi village, Chozuba block under the programe ‘Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav,’ organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Phek, on March 26.
The camp was led by Dr. Debojyoti Borkotoky, subject matter specialist (Animal Science) assisted by Setsonyi Puro and Zakahi. More than 500 poultry birds were immunized against Ranikhet disease, a disease highly contagious in fowls and cause great economic loss to the farmers every year due to its endemic and epidemic nature.
Veterinary counseling and treatment to the ailing animals was provided to livestock farmers of the village. Free anthelmintic medicines and mineral mixture for chicken, pig, thotho, rabbit, dog and cat were made available to the farmers of the village.
Animal health promoting medication was also provided to the farmers to boost the immunity of their animals against various livestock diseases. The Village Council chairman Zaneo and VDB secretary Veposu-o and youth leaders expressed gratitude to the director of ICAR-NRC on Mithun and senior scientist & head, KVK-Phek for the invaluable service to the farmers of the village.
