Urban Development plans two flyovers in Dimapur

Dimapur, July 29: If the proposed plan gets through, the bane of traffic congestion in Dimapur would soon be story of the past. Urban Development Department has mooted constructing two flyovers in Dimapur – one at Dhobinullah (Zeliangrong village) intersection and the other at Deluxe Point (Bata Charali) with pavement for pedestrians.
This was informed by MLA and Chairman of NIDC, Tovihoto Ayemi, at the inauguration of Northern Angami Colony gate in Walford this morning. Stating that Dimapur is the only commercial hub and the gateway of Nagaland, he said the State government has prioritised providing infrastructures required of a modern city.
Traffic congestion being the utmost problem witnessed by the citizens on daily basis, he said Urban Development Department has planned to construct two flyovers in Dimapur. Besides, he said the State government is also trying control the problem of flooding in Dimapur.Meanwhile, he has appreciated the unity exhibited by the residents of Northern Angami Colony in enabling to construct such ‘landmark’ colony gate. Quoting ‘Unity is strength,’ he said the colony gate could be completed through unity exhibited by the residents. He further urged the members to continue with the same zeal and spirit even in the days to come.
Colony chairman, Puopfukhrielie Merekesi chaired the programme, while invocation was said by pastor Vilasetuo Suokhrie, special song was presented by Ms. Khriesi and Seyiesenuo and short speech by NAPO president, Vilieo Rutsa.
Kevise Sogotsu, in his vote of thanks, has acknowledged the chief guest for the financial assistance towards the construction of the colony gate. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Angami legislators and T Rio towards the construction of the gate.
